Restaurants seek alternative options after negative experiences with third-party delivery

For many restaurant owners, third-party delivery services such as Seamless, DoorDash, and Uber Eats are exorbitant and expensive, charging establishments up to 30 percent in commissions per order. Yet, with the coronavirus pandemic, profit margins in the restaurant industry are often so small that many restaurants are forced to turn to curbside pickup and delivery in hopes of breaking even.

As a result of COVID-19, many restaurants are increasingly depending on national food services to control the delivery process; however, businesses like Seamless often fail to provide local customer service if something goes wrong with the order.
