Local food groups provide sustainable alternatives to national delivery services

While national food delivery apps claim to support small businesses during COVID-19, many restaurant owners have complained about the companies’ customer service and high commission fees that take the majority of the profit from establishments.

In a time of crisis, many owners have few options, as Grubhub, Postmates, DoorDash and Uber Eats, along with their subsidiaries, represent 98 percent of food delivery sales. More than ever, restaurants are in need of local food delivery cooperatives that understand the community and prioritize service over profit.
