National delivery services are threatening to the existence of local restaurants, from mom-and-pop shops to 5-star eateries

While partnerships with national restaurant delivery services may be enticing for restaurants, conglomerates such as DoorDash and Grubhub are destroying local establishments by charging owners unreasonably high commission rates. Read more below about how these services are doing restaurants more harm than good!

It’s happening time and time again. In many cases across the country, restaurants are in a precarious position due to COVID-19 and other factors. With many local eateries struggling to keep up with rent, waste removal, and utility bills, cities like Chicago have recently passed resolutions to temporarily cap third-party delivery fees at 15 percent.

However, this act by lawmakers does little to prevent national delivery apps from crippling local restaurants who have already faced a great deal of adversity in the past year.
